Career Biography

Bhavi is the India general counsel for KKR (Kohlberg Kravis Roberts) covering all of KKR’s businesses in India. KKR is one of the largest private equity funds in the world with assets under management of $600bn.

Bhavi has oversight of all of KKR’s private equity, infrastructure, impact, NBFC, real estate and growth investments in India and manages stake sales and monetizations, including securities law matters, fund considerations and exit strategies. As the head of the legal team, she supervises both day-to-day legal issues for the private equity fund and the legal aspects of investments and fundraising. Bhavi manages the entire litigation portfolio (including arbitrations, criminal matters) in and relating to India and contributes on business strategy and longer-term impact of transactions and corporate matters. She also has oversight of legal issues and risks at portfolio companies, including major litigations, antitrust and securities laws matters.

KKR has deployed over $12bn in India. Bhavi has played a central role in KKR’s increasing investments in India and led the legal aspects (legal guidance and strategic advice, term sheet, structuring, documentation, negotiation, legal and compliance diligence, regulatory and compliance matters, identifying and managing legal risks, closing items and processes, collaboration and co-ordination across various functions in KKR) of several landmark deals by KKR’s funds in India.
