What do you think are the most important attributes for a modern in-house counsel to possess?
The most important attributes are integrity, the ability to provide pragmatic solutions to company challenges and a continuous improvement mindset to understand the business and how we best support it. When these three attributes converge, we create high performing teams, operating in a trusting environment, that are prepared and wired to achieve the set business objectives. The continuous improvement mindset piece helps us to set and revise goals as those are achieved, in particular around enterprise excellence, simplification of processes and. most importantly, being the right business advisors.
What is a cause, business or otherwise, that you are passionate about?
I am passionate about many causes but specially these two: one is effective migrant integration. Being an immigrant can be a superpower when you combine the different cultural backgrounds to fully serve the community you live in. In times where immigration tensions lead to political storms and civil unrest, it is a powerful force to represent that immigrants can strengthen the economic and social foundations of the societies they are in, when the strategies impacting their integration are well designed and executed. I am also passionate about getting more girls into STEM and supporting them through education to obtain opportunities in STEM and business areas. We all benefit from diverse contributions and the results this can bring to innovation and effective company performance.
