With close to 20 years of expertise in the legal field, Alexandra Padurariu has been handling the Legal and Compliance of the Samsung Electronics Romania team ever since the start of company’s activity in our country, for more than 14 years now.

From this position Alexandra handled the overall management of the legal & compliance function and contract management, with strong focus on adding value, advising business leaders and fellow board members on strategic legal and related matters in the early phases of business plan development.

Alexandra also handles the Public Affairs area for Samsung Electronics Romania, managing government relations and acting as a strategic partner for state regulators in the area of information technology, education, digitalization etc.

Alexandra and her team frequently received both internal and external recognition for their exceptional impact, unwavering enthusiasm and strategic input in delivering scalable and cost-effective solutions that drive business performance.

Prior to this, Alexandra was an attorney-at-law specialized in the Banking and Finance area with a reputable international law firm.

What are the most significant cases, projects or transactions that you and your legal team have recently been involved in?

In 2025, Samsung legal team led multiple key initiatives covering data privacy, regulatory compliance, contract management, and digital transformation. We implemented enhanced personal data management processes and collaborated closely on aligning business practices with emerging European data regulations. We continuously supported marketing functions in compliance reviews for new product campaigns and oversaw privacy adherence in educational and partnership protocols.

We updated contract management policies, successfully negotiated significant commercial agreements, and assisted operational units with complex regulatory requirements such as product registration and factoring issues. Our team streamlined onboarding for digital sales partners and managed all contract approval workflows, while facilitating several internal training programs on compliance and governance. Additionally, we proactively addressed evolving technology regulation, focusing on the EU Artificial Intelligence Act. By researching and adapting to this pioneering Al legal framework, we positioned the company to responsibly innovate while ensuring compliance with newly established transparency, accountability, and governance standards for Al solutions.

How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crisis to ensure the organisation’s resilience?

“Crisis mode” being the new normal for many organizations, crisis management needs to mix with legal, business, and public affairs approaches in order to prevent any impact in company’s market value and reputation.

Addressing crises effectively begins with a thorough, timely assessment of potential vulnerabilities and preparation of a contingency framework. This approach may not cover every risk, but enables agile responses to sudden environmental shifts. 

Achieving resilience in such times depends on robust collaboration across team members with diverse expertise to ensure alignment with broader business strategies and continuity of operations. In my organization Legal, Compliance and Public Affairs teams engage with all stakeholder departments in early risk detection, allowing us to add value from project design through to implementation. This unified approach supports real-time, practical solutions, safeguards operational continuity, and reinforces stakeholder confidence.

AI has been taken seriously as a potentially revolutionary technological change in the legal world for a number of years now. Has it had a meaningful impact in how your legal team works in this time?

Our people are at the heart of innovation. Using Samsung Gauss2, our proprietary multimodal AI platform, we boost team productivity through AI-assisted coding and conversational tools. We foster collaboration through flexible work environments, internal idea challenges, AI taskforces, and a culture that encourages curiosity and friendly competition. This culture keeps our team energized and ready to innovate.

 eWhat is a cause, business or otherwise, that you are passionate about? Why is this?

In my work, I’ve become increasingly passionate about the wellbeing and mental health of women within the legal profession–a proven cornerstone of sustainable performance and innovation in our industry. Drawing on both research and firsthand experience, I advocate for systemic approaches that address the specific pressures faced by female legal professionals, and I support evidence-based strategies for nurturing resilience in legal workplaces.

Alongside this, I see a critical need for law firms to elevate their value to in-house legal teams by moving beyond standardized advice to a truly consultative partnership model. Helping external counsel understand and align with their clients’ internal priorities is not just good practice, it’s transformative for both legal risk management and business impact. I welcome opportunities to speak or consult with legal organizations seeking actionable insight and tailored guidance. My goal is to help drive a shift toward healthier, more effective, and more client- attuned legal environments–both for the professionals who serve in them and the businesses that depend upon them.
