How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?
I believe that during times of instability, my role is to bring clarity and calm by quickly assessing risks and providing practical solutions. I work hand in hand with the business to align legal strategy with broader goals, ensuring we not only navigate immediate challenges but also build long-term resilience.
What are the major cases or transactions you have been involved in recently?
Most recently, I was involved in the landmark acquisition of Terrafina, a Mexican real estate investment trust (FIBRA). This transaction was one of the largest in the sector and required navigating complex regulatory, financing, and corporate governance matters.
What measures has your company taken to embed sustainability practices into its core business operations, and how does the role of the general counsel contribute to driving and ensuring sustainable practices within the company?
Sustainability is at the core of our business, from adopting green building standards to installing rooftop solar panels that boost renewable energy use. As legal director, I ensure these commitments are embedded in our contracts, compliance frameworks, and strategic decisions, aligning legal risk management with long-term ESG goals.
