My approach focuses on anticipation, adaptability, and strategic alignment with the company’s overall objectives. During times of crisis, my priority is to ensure that the organisation fully complies with its regulatory obligations and protects its interests, while minimising legal and financial risks that could compromise its stability and reputation.

To achieve this, I maintain constant and effective communication with various business areas and compliance teams, ensuring that all strategic decisions fully consider legal implications. In crisis situations, I proactively review and adjust internal procedures, contracts, and policies, enabling the company to respond swiftly and effectively to regulatory or market changes. This approach guarantees that the organisation continues to operate in a solid, ethical manner, fully compliant with current laws, and strengthens its resilience in challenging times.

My legal strategy also aims to enhance business resilience through proactive risk management. This includes reviewing and optimising coverage in our insurance products, as well as adapting contracts and conditions in response to regulatory or market changes. Close and ongoing collaboration with the business areas, combined with my continuous updating on regulatory developments, allows me to anticipate challenges and respond quickly and accurately. This ensures operational continuity and reinforces the confidence of our clients and strategic partners.

What are the major cases or transactions you have been involved in recently?

Mexico’s current justice system demands a radical strategic shift: jurisprudence is increasingly favoring policyholders, and litigation management must be proactive, evidence-based, and capable of anticipating outcomes. Our biggest challenge was not leveraging prior rulings: each case started from scratch, and the search and manual analysis consumed critical time, limiting our speed of response and operational efficiency.

To address this, we implemented a strategy based on two pillars and one key action: 1) reduce the litigation portfolio to mitigate risks and strengthen resilience; 2) establish a proactive containment and prevention process that identifies conflicts early and prioritises cases with high potential for escalation.

At the center is our AI-powered conversational assistant, which searches for and analyzes rulings quickly and accurately and provides concrete recommendations for new cases. This enables us to turn accumulated experience into an advantage, accelerate informed decision-making, adopt a more strategic approach, and anticipate results.

In recent matters, I have played a key role in the creation and registration of new insurance products with regulatory authorities, ensuring that each product fully complies with legal and market requirements, and facilitating their launch with complete conformity. Additionally, I have successfully led insurance premium recovery processes, efficiently managing operations related to co-insurance and reinsurance, negotiating with partners and reinsurers to minimise losses and optimise the company’s financial results.

Also, I have provided strategic advice on complex acquisition transactions, ensuring legal compliance and patrimonial protection in every deal. In claims resolution, including high-complexity claims, I have demonstrated exceptional ability to manage and resolve disputes effectively, safeguarding the company’s interests and strengthening our clients’ confidence.

In summary, my extensive experience enables me to manage legal aspects efficiently during times of crisis, aligning actions with the business strategy to maintain the resilience of AXA Seguros. My work ensures regulatory compliance, patrimony protection, and ongoing satisfaction for our clients and partners, thereby reinforcing the company’s strength and reputation in the market.

What measures has your company taken to embed sustainability practices into its core business operations,and how does the role of the general counsel contribute to driving and ensuring sustainable practices within the company?

At AXA Seguros México, we have adopted a series of strategic actions to incorporate sustainability practices into our operations, including an 85% reduction in GHG emissions, 78% use of clean energy, efficient water and waste management, and the promotion of green and inclusive products. Additionally, we implemented a digital strategy to extend the lifespan of technological resources and reduce our digital footprint. The role of the general counsel is fundamental, as they lead the integration of these practices into corporate governance, ensure compliance with international regulations, promote a culture of responsibility, and guarantee that sustainability remains a key pillar in the company’s strategic decision-making.
