Career biography

Born on 4 December 1992, in the city of Puebla, Mexico, Juan Carlos Vicente Lepe is a corporate lawyer whose professional career is distinguished by solid experience in regulatory risk management, licensing, and permitting. He also has a strong track record in facilitating large-scale business development.

Juan Carlos built his academic foundation at the Tecnológico de Monterrey, where he graduated with honours in Law in 2015. During his studies, he had the opportunity to complete the diploma Formando al Abogado Global at the Centro de Estudios Garrigues in Madrid, Spain, and a year later, he completed a professional internship in São Paulo, Brazil. He is currently pursuing a master’s in business law at the Universidad Panamericana (UP), deepening his knowledge at the intersection of law and business strategy.

Juan Carlos began his career at Walmart of Mexico and Central America, where he spent over seven years supporting the multinational’s real estate and operational development. Rising from Sub-manager to Manager of Compliance, Licensing, and Permitting, he ensured that new business units across the country’s northern and southern regions opened with all required and valid authorisations, significantly mitigating reputational risks and financial penalties. During his tenure as manager, he had the opportunity to lead various teams in the area, developing his personnel management skills. A notable milestone of his leadership was rescuing projects considered “red projects” in states such as Baja California Sur, Sonora, and Chiapas. These projects, which were stalled due to their complexity and opposition from authorities, were successfully unlocked thanks to his persistence and effective communication, ultimately allowing for their successful construction and operation.

His focus was always on personal and corporate integrity, and thanks to his negotiation and teamwork skills, he managed to optimise response times from authorities, achieving crucial progress in construction and openings.

In November 2023, he assumed the role of Licensing and Permitting Manager at Grupo Rotoplas, where he developed and formalised the area, implementing policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance in its production plants in Mexico, the USA, and Latin America. Among the notable achievements is the efficient management of licences and permits for the start of operations of the Ixtapaluca plant, in Estado de México, considered the most important for the company at a global level, as well as the regularisation of the construction permits for three plants in Mexico. Throughout his management, he has led the acquisition and renewal of various licences at the federal, state, and municipal levels. He is currently taking on new challenges by leading the company’s Money Laundering Prevention area, demonstrating his versatility and commitment to compliance.
