Career Biography
Angela Jackson is currently the Director of Legal at Uber Canada, where she leads the commercial and employment legal teams and provides strategic counsel on high-impact commercial agreements, product reviews, marketing initiatives, competition and consumer-protection matters across a fast-moving marketplace. Known for her ability to align legal risk with business outcomes, she partners closely with cross-functional leaders to enable responsible growth while maintaining rigorous compliance standards in a complex, multi-jurisdictional environment. Highlights of her work at Uber include being the primary lawyer on the Canadian launch of Uber Health, Uber AI Solutions, retail last mile delivery and key growth deals with Walmart, Sobeys, and Costco.
Before stepping into her current leadership role at Uber, she previously held the position of General Counsel and Chief Privacy Officer at CasaHealth Tech where she established and led the legal function for a rapidly scaling online pharmacy and health-technology company. Angela also previously served as the Vice President, Corporate Counsel and Chief Privacy Officer for H&R Block where she led a large team of legal, HR and compliance professionals. Earlier in her career, she held roles in private practice in the United States and Canada spanning labour and employment, privacy, contracts, and immigration.
Within the in-house community, Angela is a visible and trusted leader. She serves as President of the ACC Ontario Chapter, where she helps shape programming for in-house legal teams on topics ranging from employment law, internal investigations, compliance programs, competition law and legal operations. Through ACC education initiatives, she has contributed as a speaker at the Global ACC conference on promotional pricing and related compliance risks, use of AI in health care, multi-jurisdictional privacy compliance programs—areas where her day-to-day work at Uber provides concrete, real-world perspective.
Angela is called to the bars of Alaska, BC, Ontario and Alberta and remains active in the national in-house community through ACC chapter leadership and involvement in Counselwell, the Canadian Association of Counsel to Employers and Women General Counsel Canada. Angela also serves on the Advisory Boards of two high-growth Canadian start-up companies: Goodlawyer and Toast. She is also a frequent mentor and advocate for inclusive legal and business teams, reflecting a belief that diverse perspectives produce stronger risk assessments and better products.
