Career Biography

Remco Lemarcq is an experienced legal executive in the pharmaceutical industry, currently serving as Regional General Counsel Europe and Canada at Takeda. Lemarca’s career spans global and regional roles, providing strategic legal advice and business support across a range of areas including mergers and acquisitions, licensing, competition law, data protection, commercial litigation, risk management and healthcare compliance.

In recent years, Lemarca has held leadership positions at Takeda and Shire, where responsibilities included managing legal and risk matters for large business units, overseeing teams of lawyers and legal professionals, and serving as a board member for company entities. Lemarca has contributed to major corporate transactions, such as the acquisition of Baxalta by Shire and the subsequent sale of Shire to Takeda.

Lemarca’s work has also included handling product liability and commercial litigation, leading internal investigations, and supporting market access and reimbursement strategies. Experience in regulatory, compliance, and privacy matters is complemented by participation in risk and ethics committees and liaison roles for compliance and internal audit.

Lemarca’s approach emphasises collaboration, integrity, and commitment to team development, aiming to contribute positively to both organizational goals and the broader pharmaceutical sector. He is passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion, and acts as DE&I sponsor for Global Legal at Takeda.

Earlier in his career, time in private practice at Quinz in Brussels provided a foundation in life sciences and corporate law. Lemarca is admitted to the Brussels Bar and holds a Master of Laws from Ghent University, with additional studies in international business law and human rights in Spain and Germany.

Industry recognition includes listings in the GC Powerlist Switzerland and Modern Counsel’s “35 under 35.” Lemarca is multilingual, with proficiency in Dutch/Flemish, English, French, German and Spanish.
