Career Biography
Khaled Yakhlef is an accomplished legal executive with over 20 years of experience in corporate, banking, and international law. He currently serves as Assistant General Manager of the Legal Affairs Division and Head of the Contracting and Consultancy Unit at Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait (ABK). In this role, he leads legal strategy across a wide range of corporate and commercial matters, advises executive leadership on regulatory compliance and risk, and oversees the negotiation and drafting of high-value contracts.
Yakhlef holds a Ph.D. in Public Law from the University of Clermont 1 in France, with a focus on International Public Law, European Law, and Jordanian Civil and Administrative Law. His academic background is complemented by an LL.M. in International Organisations and European Law and an LL.B. from the University of Jordan.
Before joining ABK, Yakhlef worked as a Legal Expert at Pohl Consulting & Associates, where he supported international development projects and legal reform initiatives. He also held a legal officer role at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, contributing to international education policy and legal documentation.
Fluent in Arabic, French, and English, Yakhlef brings a global legal perspective and a strong track record in institutional capacity building, legal advisory for financial institutions, and strategic legal planning. His accomplishments include leading the legal restructuring of a 300m Kuwaiti Dinar account, managing the legal framework for ABK’s core banking system transformation, and playing a key role in the acquisition of Piraeus Bank Egypt.
Yakhlef has also completed advanced training in anti-money laundering, leadership, and performance management. He is recognized for his ability to navigate complex legal frameworks, build cross-functional legal solutions, and align legal strategy with institutional goals.
