What are the key projects that you have been involved in over the past 12 months?

In the last 12 months, I have overviewed at group level all major transactions concluded or underway, including M&As in Greece and in other countries, in excess of €1.5 billion. Moreover, I monitor from corporate governance perspective the ongoing transformation of PPC to a multinational group, including the necessary integration of our major subsidiaries and in particular PPC Romania and Kotsovolos in our operations.

What do you think are the most important attributes for a modern in-house counsel to possess?

Adjustment and empathy are the key qualities that a person dealing with and managing human relationships has to have and exhibit. One must timely understand what the expectations are and be in a position effectively to address them. That, in its turn, requires the ability to escape old habits and develop new ones, at a time during which this comes repeatedly at a very fast pace.

Have you had any experiences during your career as a lawyer that stand out as particularly unique or interesting?

My very unique experience is related to the transformation of a state-controlled utility/national champion, to a private sector multinational group active in a number of markets, not only energy, and in at least seven countries. My 21 years of tenure speak for themselves.

How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?

A key requirement is the establishment of a team (a team, not just a group of people) that must work together, not individually, in a direction not only set by the CEO, but also fulfilling the aspirations and desires of the people involved. That is the most important challenge of any manager.
