How do you approach the management of legal issues during periods of instability or crisis, and how do you align your legal strategy with the overall business strategy to ensure the resilience of the organisation?

In Bolivia in particular, we are going through a period of financial instability that could lead to a crisis in the near future. Therefore, identifying risks and planning measures to ensure their management and impact are key to an impact containment strategy. In this sense, the transformation to less costly operating models with greater cost efficiency could generate organisational transformation.

What are the main cases or transactions you have been involved in recently?

We recently accompanied a process of restructuring and changing the operating model, reviewing the different challenges posed by labor legislation in Bolivia in accordance with a comprehensive analysis of the needs of other areas such as finance.

What do you think are the main legal challenges for companies in Bolivia in the next five years and how are you preparing to address them?

The country’s political situation, coupled with the lack of foreign currency, has generated various needs in relation to finding new ways of operating that seek to optimise resources. The challenge in the coming years is to analyze possible ways of restructuring operations with a comprehensive risk mitigation analysis between the Legal Department and other areas of the company such as Human Resources, Administration, Finance, etc.
