Career Biography
Cristina Lloreda is a seasoned executive and legal professional with over two decades of experience in corporate leadership, mergers and acquisitions, legal strategy, and governance across Latin America, the United States, and Europe. She currently serves as Co-CEO and Vice President of Legal and Corporate Affairs at Sanford Management, a multinational group with operations in the U.S., Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, Venezuela and Spain, and a portfolio of ten operating companies.
As Co-CEO since October 2022, Lloreda co-leads the strategic direction of the Sanford Group. She is a member of the Strategic Committee, chairs the boards of several subsidiaries and represents the group on the boards of most of its operating companies. She also leads the M&A division, overseeing transactions from strategic assessment through post-closing integration. Her track record includes the sale of over ten non-core real estate assets, the acquisition of three operating companies, and the divestiture of ten others. She is also responsible for optimizing the group’s real estate portfolio.
Since 2013, Lloreda has also held the role of Vice President of Legal and Corporate Affairs at Sanford. In this capacity, she supervises legal risk across the group, manages external counsel, designs compliance programs, and serves as Secretary to the Shareholders’ Assembly and Board of Directors of Sanford International. She also leads investor relations, ensuring transparency and reliability in financial and operational reporting to stakeholders.
Previously, Lloreda was Senior Attorney (Vice President) at Citibank Colombia (2009–2013), where she covered Citibank Colombia S.A., Citivalores Comisionista de Bolsa S.A., and Cititrust Colombia S.A. Her responsibilities included regulatory matters, M&A, capital markets (the creation of the first ETF in Colombia), syndicated loans, and complex collateral structures. She was selected as a “High Potential” talent and participated in an audit of Cititrust Bahamas’ Trust Funds business.
Earlier in her career, Lloreda worked at Brigard & Urrutia Abogados (2006–2009), where she led legal structuring for debt and equity issuances, ADRs, private equity funds, and syndicated loans. She also worked in-house at British Petroleum Colombia. Her international experience includes a role as International Associate at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP in New York (2005–2006), focusing on debt issuances and financial restructurings.
She holds an LL.M. from Harvard Law School, a law degree from Universidad de Los Andes (with honors), and a B.A. in Economics (magna cum laude) from Georgetown University. She also completed executive education at Harvard Business School (PLD), and programs in sustainability, innovation, and leadership at Universidad de Los Andes. Cristina is admitted to the New York Bar.
