What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

Hong Leong Bank Vietnam’s legal division is responsible for advancing and championing the ‘Built Around You’ proposition by ensuring our customers are protected from any potential internal and external risks. As such, all projects must have Legal involvement to ensure we uphold the ‘HLB Value of Being Here for the Long Term’ and guide business units to ensure they provide solutions that are win-win for all parties involved. Most recently was the implementation of Decree 13/2023/ND-CP on Customer Data Protection.

Could you share an example of a time when you came up with an innovation that improved how your legal team works and did not come at a large expense?

HLBVN is fully focused on digitalisation and innovation, and continually drives the ‘Digital at the Core’ proposition. We are highly focused on developing systems for back office that can remove redundancies and optimise workflows. HLBVN legal division has been the key driver for two projects this year – all developed in-house with minimal cost but with a dramatic effect on back-office operations.

Does your team make use of interesting technology solutions to streamline its workload?

HLBVN is continually exploring and testing new technologies and services. Once digitalisation has been completed, we will look at finding ways to optimise the remaining workflow with any other new products or technologies – this includes generative AI, AI advisory, task automation, and many others. Once paired, workload and workflow will greatly improve, and productivity will increase significantly.
