Could you share an example of a time when you came up with an innovation that improved how your legal team works and did not come at a large expense? 

I have been implementing a virtual library with templates of different types of Contracts. Some of said templates can be autofill by the end users and some of them with a cross check by the legal department. Among this legal database we also created templates of purchase orders so as to be covered in each type of contractual relationship. 

Can you foresee any key developments to the way general counsel work over the next five years?    

I foresee that contracts will be, in general, automatically drafted.  

What are some of the main trends impacting the industry sector you work in in Uruguay?   

To get used to working with international contracts, such as: FIDIC, NEC, EPC, EPCM. Also, I believe that dispute board arbitration should be included in the contract as a preliminary stage so as to avoid conflict. 

What are some of the key developments (legal, geopolitical, or otherwise) that have affected your business over the past year?   

In relation to the construction industry, the war between Russia and Ukraine plus the global inflation had a direct impact on prices. The Uruguayan currency has been stronger than the USD dollar, and in many sectors of activity, prices and activity have been jeopardised.
