Marc A. Alpert
| Loews Corporation
Senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary
After 30 years of excelling in private practice with the law firm Chadbourne & Parke, where he was named as a “leading lawyer” in M&A by The Legal 500 for three consecutive years, Marc A. Alpert made the move in-house to join Loews Corporation. He took on the role of senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary in 2016 for the Fortune 250 diversified holding company, which has subsidiaries in the insurance, energy, hospitality and packaging industries. Alpert is responsible for managing the company’s legal affairs, particularly handling M&As and other corporate development transactions, securities offerings, financings, litigation and other dispute resolution proceedings. He is also required to oversee SEC reporting, corporate governance, board matters, risk management, employee issues, commercial agreements and strategic and operational initiatives. Partly nominated for the ease in which he transitioned into in-house life, Alpert has already impressed peers for the handling Loews’ successful 2017 acquisition of Consolidated Container Company, a leading rigid plastic packaging manufacturer based in Atlanta, for a value of $1.2bn.
