John Pantazis began his career as a law clerk to Judge Richard C. Wesley before starting in private practice with Ropes & Gray in Boston. In 2012, Pantazis moved to St. Louis, Missouri, and joined Heartland Dental as executive vice president, before becoming general counsel in 2016. At the time Heartland Dental was a $550m company with no legal department, providing a great opportunity for Pantazis to build the department and integrate into the business. He oversees the legal, compliance, employee relations, and dental insurance administration function, supervising a team of two lawyers, four paralegals and other administrative and employee relations staff. Pantazis and his team have been a major source of growth for the company, which is dedicated to providing services and assistance to dentists across the US. The team handled regulatory challenges in Texas, successful litigations and security matters, as well as hiring, creating and teaching new systems, also integrating contract management systems that integrate with business across division. Highlighting the success he’s had at Heartland Dental, Pantazis explains, ‘We’re innovative, in demand and a growing business… we never forget our customers, doctors, and it is so important we work for them’.
