About

Joining Akridge, a company with 33 years of operating history that had never had an in-house legal department, allowed Andy Pace to pave the way the legal function operates for the real-estate company. Akridge invests in and manages commercial real estate, from office buildings to mixed-use space in the Washington DC region and since it’s founding in 1974, Akridge has acquired over 14 million square feet of commercial real estate and land. Since joining in 2006, Pace has brought his strong command of legal experience in the real estate arena including real estate finance, tax matters and constructing contracting to the company. Over the years he has continued to develop a strong relationship with both the CEO and senior management as part of the senior management team. He has become the company ethics officer, acting as what Pace calls ‘the ear of management’ on issues of legal and ethical concern. Some of his mentioned highlights include the first transaction he completed for the company where he handled the legal and most of the business side of a joint venture. This was an important milestone as it marked the time his role transitioned from purely legal to legal business. Prior to this role, Pace spent around 20 years in private practice starting at Willkie Farr & Gallagher in New York, moving to Washington where he assumed position as a partner at Arnold & Porter.
