Established in 1924 by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, founder of the Turkish Republic, İş Bankası is today the largest private bank in Turkey with over 25,000 employees and around 1,400 local and overseas branches. Its legal team is headed by deputy general manager, Ergün Yorulmaz. Having worked at the bank since 1983, Yorulmaz took up his current role in 2014. The legal department has ensured the company remains up to date with and adaptable to a number of regulations affecting banks in Turkey. Yorulmaz commands a legal team that is highly respected in the financial services sector and is known for its supreme judgement in commercial matters. In a busy two years for the company, the department has been active in in helping to secure high profile loans such as a $1.2bn syndicated loan from a total of 42 banks in 20 countries to be used for general trade finance activities.
