Established in 1845 and headquartered in Lausanne, Banque Cantonale Vaudoise (BCV) is one of Switzerland’s cantonal banks providing retail and corporate banking products mainly to canton residents. Philipe L’Eplattenier, head legal counsel, leads the legal department of the seventh largest bank in Switzerland in terms of total assets. Recent work done by the legal team includes reaching a non-prosecution settlement agreement in December 2015 with the US Department of Justice that did not affect the bank’s dividend policy with respect to BCV’s participation as a category two financial institution in the 2013 USA/Switzerland tax program. They were also involved with the bank’s collaboration with other Swiss banks, exchange group SIX and Swisscom on a Switzerland-wide universal mobile payment solution in 2015.
