As general counsel of Credit Suisse since 2009, Romeo Cerutti occupies a highly distinguished and prominent position in Switzerland’s in-house legal market. In addition to his technical legal credentials, he has an extensive understanding of the multinational investment bank’s diverse operations having been at the company since 2006. In leading the legal function at Credit Suisse, Cerutti consistently makes significant contributions by successfully guiding the company through persisting challenges occurring in the banking industry whilst informing senior management with expert advice. Recently he has been credited for creating a new compliance and regulatory affairs function, overseeing the bank’s activities at all levels to strengthen its efforts to protect its reputation at a global level. He previously served as head of corporate finance at oldest private bank in Geneva and one of the largest in Switzerland and Europe, Lombard Odier.
