Mikael Östman first joined world-leading Swedish multinational Electrolux in 2002, and having since gained a sparkling reputation for advice on challenging global legal issues, assumed his current role of senior vice president and general counsel in 2017. During his time within the Electrolux business, Östman has held various senior positions that include him leading Electrolux’s corporate legal department and saw him also become the head of Electrolux’s legal affairs in Europe. As a leading global appliance company whose brands include Electrolux, AEG, Anova, Frigidaire, Westinghouse and Zanussi, Electrolux sells more than 60 million household and professional products in more than 150 markets every year, thus requiring a wide-range of support on a variety of issues in a number of different jurisdictions. In leading the entire legal practices within the company, Östman is ultimately responsible for Electrolux’s adherence to strict compliance requirements within the consumer products industry. Before joining Electrolux, Östman held positions as a corporate counsel at Telia Mobile, a lawyer at Advokatfirman Vinge, and a law clerk with the Stockholm District Court.
