Headed by general counsel for Asia Pacific Chek Tsang Foo, international information technology company Dimension Data’s Asia Pacific legal team comprises 19 highly qualified individuals across the region, with the team headquartered in Singapore. Chek Tsang explains that the team has accelerated its transformation over the past twelve months aimed at increasing its range of value and effectiveness, and has included ‘flattening the functional hierarchy and team structures, entrenching secondary roles in legal operations and enhancing the culture of innovation within the team’. This innovative mind-set has borne fruit, with a new contract review tool being just one example of new legal technology being adopted by the team. The team’s innovativeness also extends to finding new ways of working with existing technology and resources that Dimension Data already has in place. In terms of how the team’s effective internal structures and highly capable workforce have translated to success in supporting the business, Chek Tsang provided further detail: ‘Over the last few years, Dimension Data Asia Pacific has been delivering more complex and transformational ICT outsourcing and management projects for governments and multinational companies. The team has risen to the challenge, providing more customised and more multi-faceted legal support. The team also created DIY tools, streamlined processes, integrated frameworks while rolling out more scalable risk management solutions, guided by a multi-year roadmap’.
