Nominating sources pointed out general counsel and senior vice president for human capital Rekha Mahendran as an individual who has contributed hugely to the team’s success, especially in regard to her work in support of employee recruitment and development: ‘She is responsible for the development and implementation of policies for effective talent acquisition, management and business partnering. On top of it all, she is the champion for Astro’s human capital policies including Total Performance Management, employee brand manifesto, a revised code of ethics, disciplinary proceedings and other talent management initiatives’. Amongst their many successes, the team has worked on the collaboration between AMH subsidiary Tribe Limited and Globe Telecom to offer over-the-top audio-visual services in the Philippines, and advised the company’s senior management on regulatory framework changes, taxation, forex, anti -piracy and currency issues. Perhaps most prominently, the team had a key role to play in AMH’s acquisition of the Capital FM and Red FM radio stations in late 2016 in a deal worth RM42m.
