About

Oleg Roibu holds the position of general counsel of eMAG Group, where he oversees the group’s legal, public policy, and sustainability efforts across Central and Eastern Europe and in Brussels. A graduate of the University of Bucharest’s Faculty of Law (2010), Oleg also earned a Master’s in International and Community Law from Nicolae Titulescu University of Bucharest (2016). He has completed executive education programmes at renowned institutions like The London School of Economics and Political Science, Yale School of Management, and Harvard Business School.

Oleg joined the eMAG team in 2014, overseeing the development of eMAG’s legal structure in international markets, including Bulgaria, Hungary, and Poland. He was also at the forefront of initiating eMAG’s public policy efforts. In his current role, Oleg has steered the transformation of the group’s operations, ensuring swift adaptation to the evolving landscape of digital European regulations and the practices of regulatory authorities. This includes navigating the platform-to-business Regulation, The New Deal for Consumers, Digital Services Act, among others.

He is also a strong advocate for the digitalisation and automation of legal processes, enabling legal professionals to dedicate their time to areas where they can add greater value. Initiatives such as electronic signatures, contract management platforms, and robotic compliance programmes exemplify such efforts.

With Oleg’s support, eMAG initiated “Angajamentul pentru Mediu” (Commitment for the Environment), recognised as Romania’s first corporate sustainability pledge. This initiative highlights an evolving focus on environmental considerations in the region.

Oleg has been actively involved in promoting the e-commerce sector and the digital economy. He serves as the vice president of the Romanian E-commerce Association (ARMO) and supports the development of the Romanian ICT sector through his role as a board member of the Software and Services Industry Association (ANIS). Additionally, Oleg has been a member of the advisory body of the European Tech Alliance and co-authored the documentary booklet, ‘Digital Romania: Operational Concepts and Tools’.
