Could you tell us a bit about your significant successes in your role?

I have only been in my current role since July this year. However, in that time Tabcorp was announced as the preferred tenderer for the Tasmanian monitoring licence. I was an integral part of the negotiation team that successfully negotiated with the Tasmanian Government on the terms of the monitoring licence and related documentation.

In your opinion, what are the qualities and skills needed to form a strong legal team?

Inclusiveness and collaboration are key qualities required when it comes to building any team, and legal teams are no different. Aside from the obvious need for strong technical skills, I find that lawyers with a questioning nature can be very valuable to a legal team. It can help to provide commercial, out of the box solutions that the business has not considered.

What is the biggest risk to your industry or organisation and how are you contributing to prepare your organisation for this?

Tabcorp ‘s activities are conducted in a highly regulated environment and are regulated by laws, regulations, rules, licences, permits and other approvals from relevant federal, state and territory governments. The loss of, or failure to renew, any material licence, permit, authorisation, or other approval (or renewal on less favourable terms) may have an adverse impact on the Tabcorp Group. I work with the business to prepare bid documentation and negotiate the terms of licences, permits and other approvals.

What challenges have you overcome to get to the position you are in today?

I am fortunate enough to not be able to think of any major challenges, at least that is how I see it. Like so many women I face a daily challenge juggling three kids under six whilst trying to build a career.
