A highly regarded energy-related projects and transactions specialist, Alexander Msimang has advised clients on matters concerned with a number of emerging markets, including African nations such as Senegal, Uganda, Nigeria and Kenya. Having provided counsel to many important actors including buyers, sellers, developers, lenders, governments and regulators – as well as a range of different companies – Msimang’s experience has seen him work on energy M&A, oil and gas transactions, African energy projects, and the UK and European power sector. Some of his most noteworthy transactions involving Africa have seen Msimang advise Woodside Petroleum on its US$430m acquisition of ConocoPhillips assets in Senegal and an oil and gas multinational in the US$2.9bn sale of interests in production-sharing contracts and related assets located in Uganda. He also advised a European energy company in the development of a major LNG plant in West Africa.
