About

The Microsoft South legal team is led by the corporate, external and legal affairs lead south subsidiary, Hector Figari, who oversees all the legal and corporate affairs support for the region and all legal matters for the subsidiary, as well as government matters related to technology. Supporting him is senior lawyer Cynthia Casemajor, who assists with all commercial and public sector matters. For matters involving digital crimes, legal counsel Carmen Zegarra provides service to the company in this area. They additionally have the support of a legal intern, Maria Alejandra Aliaga. Together they form a team providing legal services in a digitally shrewd way, showing how technology can help to provide more efficient legal services. ‘We show our internal clients and colleagues how technology provides tools to render legal services in an efficient way, without jeopardising confidentiality and privacy’, explains Figari. Most recently, the legal team has been involved in the negotiations and the execution of important contracts for transformational deals with clients in the commercial and public sectors, working on facilitating contracts which allow clients to pursue their “digital transformation road”. The team has worked with different authorities in order to explain proposals on security, privacy, compliance and transparency and more recently on the legal and ethical matters of artificial intelligence. In the area of digital crimes, the team provides training and workshops to public legal enforcement authorities in order to collaborate on the fight against cybercrimes.
