What has been the number one challenge that has impacted you over the past year?

The post-pandemic years forced many companies to undergo an organisational restructuring to be more efficient. This involved making tough decisions during already challenging times, impacting the human factor and company culture – which is harder to manage because of remote working.

I believe changing several processes, replacing entire teams, and shortening staff are the most stressful tasks, especially when you realise that entire families are also impacted, not just worker. However, it is important to realise that upholding a business model that allows the continuity of regional operations will also provide several job positions across many countries.

Months ago, I had to close an important branch in a tactical country. We decided to operate in a different way, working with a different organisation. This decision allowed my company to improve the efficiency of its network.

Looking forward, what technological advancements do you feel will impact the role of in-house legal teams in the future the most?   

Specialised software will become a necessary tool for organising core legal processes. This may include making contracts, lawsuits, and internal processes more accessible and understandable to both the legal team and other departments. I do not think that the advancements in technology will threaten the work of in-house teams. Rather, I believe it will significantly improve it.

What is a cause, business related or otherwise, that you care about, and why? 

I care about promoting the participation of woman in the aviation industry. There are many issues that may discourage women in getting involve in aviation, such as the random hours of operations, short periods for maternity leave, and the male-dominated nature of the industry. Embracing what women can add and offer to their role is a cause I care and fight for.

I have been invited as a panellist to the Global Aviation Gender Summit 2023, organised by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), which aims to discuss the challenges faced by women in aviation, and the ways to attract, retain and promote women within the aviation workforce. The fact that ICAO has internalised this matter makes me proud to be a part of it.
