What has been the number one challenge that has impacted you over the past year?

The pandemic has changed the way we work in many ways. These changes will continue to impact us moving forward. Remote working has created challenges in maintaining and building a positive culture and keeping our staff engaged with the values of the firm. Talent attraction and retention will be a significant challenge in the close future. We are working on how to foster a positive and productive remote working environment. The second opportunity is to leverage technology to support staff to work remotely with ease and securely. Providing hardware and appropriate software to assist communications, productivity and cybersecurity are key to making the move from the office seamless.

Looking forward, what technological advancements do you feel will impact the role of in-house legal teams in the future the most?

Automation and artificial intelligence. Technological innovation on corporate legal and compliance areas. Technology’s positive advancement will have a direct impact on corporate legal productivity and efficacy, its potential for raising compliance risks and complexity, and its transformational role on the legal value chain will have a direct impact.

What is a cause, business related or otherwise, that you care about, and why?

Liberty. I firmly believe that individual freedoms must be protected from political, economic, and social tyranny. We must protect and defend the freedom to live our life’s in the way that we want, without interference from other people or the authorities. In my country resent political events have put at risk our liberty.
