Focus on working at Ferreycorp

I am the manager of corporate affairs at Ferreycorp, and I am also responsible for the legal and compliance matters of our holding company and its subsidiaries, providing them with advice and support in their projects and businesses.

Ferreycorp is a multi-Latin corporation specialised in the provision of capital goods and related services. It serves all economic sectors: mining, construction, energy, commerce, industry, services, maritime and fluvial, transport, agriculture, and forestry.

I joined the Ferreycorp Group in 1999, and for more than twenty years I have overseen the legal department. We are proud to have participated in the creation of the holding company Ferreycorp, which groups more than twenty-five local and foreign subsidiaries; in the internationalisation and diversification of the corporate business, through acquisitions, mergers, and spin-offs; and in the general advice on the different legal issues, eliminating and mitigating legal risks to ensure the sustainability of the corporation over time.

We have successfully implemented a corporate compliance system through the establishment of internal regulations that support the correct application of the corporate code of ethics, due diligence in all relations with our stakeholders, and the implementation of a whistle-blower channel, being its main promoter as corporate compliance officer.

As promoters of ‘Empresarios por la Integridad’, we have sought to raise the standard of compliance of Peruvian companies, and we are in the process of certifying all our companies before this institution and the ISO-37001 standard.

It was a great challenge for us to perform our functions normally in the complicated environment of the Covid-19 pandemic. As in-house lawyers, the effort was double, as we are used to being involved in a direct and very close way in the attention of our internal clients. Throughout this adaptation process, it was a success to have the second half of 2019 digitised. This allowed us to work without major complications from home during the most critical moments of the mandatory quarantine.
