What innovations have you made to the way your legal team works in the past year?
Acquisition of a legal information system that centralizes all my activities (litigation, contracts, governance) and facilitates the work of my colleagues.
Based on your experience, what is the key to collaborating successfully with business partners?
The key to a successful collaboration lies first and foremost in trust, the quality of the services offered, rapid claims processing and competitive pricing. Proactive conflict management is also required, since collaboration is above all a long-term relationship.
We are now living in a changing geopolitical environment, with increased sanctions and export controls over the past two to three years. Does this affect your work, particularly regarding your risk management duties?
Geopolitical changes do not have a significant impact on our business, but there is no doubt that we need to maintain very close collaboration with all external parties and manage risks with the utmost vigilance, by putting in place appropriate tools and methodologies to anticipate, assess and mitigate potential risks.
Apart from legal matters, has the team worked on other company initiatives you would like to highlight?
The implementation of the European CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive).
How do you motivate and manage the other members of your legal team well?
Each member of my team is a specialist in his or her field, and manages his or her portfolio with due dilligence. Personally, I leave each member plenty of room for manoeuvre, so that they can make the most of their potential, while keeping a close eye on important and complex issues.
What is a cause, business-related or otherwise, that you are passionate about, and why?
To put my knowledge and experience to work in a sector that is strategic, vital and essential to the entire population.
Are the effects of AI on the legal world overplayed, or underplayed?
Exaggerated, I think. After all, the legal world is based on variable assessments, linked to a number of factors that only a human can exercise. Nevertheless, artificial intelligence remains an extraordinary working tool that we need to know how to use.
