Muntajat’s legal function has had a major role in the company’s global expansion in the past few years. Tasked with marketing and selling Qatari petrochemical products around the world, the state-owned company has established an on-the-ground presence in a number of key markets on the back of its legal team’s hard work, opening over 20 international offices since the March 2014 appointment of Ziad Zarka (former general counsel of Tasweeq) as Muntajat’s general counsel.

Muntajat’s impressive record in the marketing of its projects is well documented, and has led to a major milestone for the company being achieved earlier this year; in February 2018 a deal was reached with Qatar Steel which will see the marketing of its products undertaken entirely by Muntajat. This move into an entirely new market is indicative of the company’s confidence in its ability, and is undoubtedly underscored by the excellent internal support provided by its legal team which has been at the heart of this and other marquee projects undertaken by the company. Alongside Zarka, senior legal counsel Jason Taylor is highly regarded among the Gulf’s in-house legal community, being on the board of directors for the Association of Corporate Counsel’s Middle East chapter.
