FedEx’s Middle East, India Subcontinent and Africa (MEISA) legal team has seven lawyers based in Dubai, including the team’s overall head and vice president legal and regulatory affairs for MEISA, Hassan Bouadar. Bouadar started with FedEx Express as an intern in 2005 and – as a nominator explains – ‘has risen through the ranks up to vice president legal as a result of his dedication and leadership qualities, commercial acumen and solid partnerships with the business functions’. The MEISA legal team was established in 2015, with the team being indicative of FedEx’s people first philosophy given the expertise and diversity of the individuals within the team, which as well as the UAE is based in India and South Africa. A nominating source explained how this contributes to the MEISA legal team’s success: ‘Given that MEISA legal provides legal support to 85 countries for FedEx Express and 93 for TNT, in a total of 400 locations with over 10,000 employees, the diversity and expertise of the team adds value as the members are able to appropriately deal with internal customers and third parties from different cultures’. As well as this, individual team members are empowered to suggest process improvements and contribute to an ever greater efficiency of operation in the team.
