The FAST Consortium is one of three consortia responsible for the construction of the multi-billion dollar Riyadh Metro megaproject, a momentous piece of engineering which is among the most exciting and prominent civil construction projects in the world.

The consortium is led by Spanish-headquartered construction giant FCC Construccion, who have also provided a number of highly qualified in-house counsel to ‘lead and manage – alongside partners – all legal aspects of the FAST Consortium’, as a nominating source states. Pablo Seijas Ameijide is legal and contracts manager lead, and was highlighted by nominating sources for his excellent work. He describes the formation of the project as such: ‘In one of the biggest deals for the company in recent memory, the legal team at FCC successfully facilitated the formation of a massive cross-border consortium (led by FCC Construccion) with seven major international infrastructure players (Samsung C&T, Alstom, Strukton, Freyssinet, Atkins, Typsa and Setec); a consortium which secured a project for the design construction and commissioning of the Riyadh Metro worth US$8bn’. Seijas describes his team as highly capable and possessing individuals who are integral to the overall project: ‘Supporting [me] in handling all these legal matters are notable team members such as Antonio Palacios and Nicolas Mendialdua, who are key players in dealing with all legal matters in the FAST Consortium and Jaime Soto, who does so for FCC Electromechanical. The team has top-tier expertise in all areas of law and prides itself on having the highest standards on infrastructures, commercial and corporate complex matters’.
