Dubai-based global property developer Emaar has an in-house legal team of 15 lawyers and non-lawyers in the core corporate team and around 20 lawyers and 25 non-lawyers working in international businesses and specialised business units. The team, led by general counsel Ayman Hamdy, were instrumental in the listing of Emaar Malls on the Dubai Financial Market under the previous Commercial Companies law. Following this listing, the Commercial Companies law was amended leading to the adaptation of the legal team’s methodology, sparking the post-financial crisis revival of mega trades in the UAE.
