About

In place since 2011, Andrew Cooke has been absolutely instrumental to Flash Entertainment’s success in the eight years since, having had responsibility for IT, HR, internal audit, company secretarial matters and business continuity at various points. He has had the pleasure of working on some extremely eye-catching – and enjoyable – events on behalf of the company: ‘Liam Gallagher’s band Beady Eye provided the soundtrack to my first ever Flash show in September 2011, and standing in the crowd having an amazing time after two years of pushing extremely challenging M&A deals was revelatory’. Earlier this year, things got even more exciting for Cooke and Flash with the company’s handling of the Pope’s first visit to the Middle East in February, especially given that it was the culmination of a particularly busy period. ‘In the 90 days prior to the Papal visit’, Cooke explains, ‘we delivered a comedy show, four concerts, the FIFA Club World Cup 2018, the Mubadala World Tennis Championships, the Sheikh Zayed Heritage Festival, the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 and UAE National Day among other things. In fact, in the early hours of 2nd February, after the final was over, I stood on the Zayed Sports City pitch with the AFC Asian Cup team. Less than three days later, the Pope gave mass to more than 40,000 people from the same spot’. The administration behind this gruelling schedule over the past year was significant, and forms another highlight for Cooke: ‘To exceed our delivery targets, while maintaining our customer service goals and without any member of the team having to sacrifice holiday or work significantly in excess of their usual monthly hours, we needed to build and execute a plan. I credit the team for the enthusiasm with which they tackled this task – not just as to the effectiveness and clarity of the initial planning, but also in the execution and optimisation of the plan as it rolled out through the year. Our 2018-19 season is a new benchmark for our service delivery’.
