Toufic Abi Fadel has led some of Qatar Development Bank’s most significant transactions of recent times. Since becoming the bank’s general counsel in 2010, he has built a four-strong legal team from scratch, and established comprehensive processes and documentation. Currently an executive board member, ‘convincing management of the general counsel’s key role in the bank’ has not been without its challenges, Fadel says. Sources point to the progress he has made in embedding legal into the decision-making process at an earlier stage.
