General counsel Oliver Sulik concedes, balancing his billion-dollar projects portfolio can be a challenge, but says it is the ‘absence of routine’ which keeps him energised by his work. Heading what is now a 16-strong team across legal and contract management, Sulik was required to establish a legal function capable of supporting billion-dollar ‘mega infrastructure projects’ from scratch. From the outset he has been praised for his hands-on approach, and his team’s strong immersion in the projects they support. Law firms should be ‘less theoretical’ he says, and need to work on improving their ‘understanding of projects dynamism’.
