How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?

During periods of instability or crisis, I believe one of the most effective approaches is to first strengthen and empower your team. This involves fostering close collaboration within the legal team (particularly across Mexico and LATAM), to ensure clear communication and a shared understanding of the challenges the organisation is facing.

In such situations, it is critical to optimise existing resources, and quickly identify core legal and operational issues. This allows us to develop practical, business-oriented legal solutions that reduce risk and support the company in making informed decisions.

Teamwork is key here, when everyone is aligned and working together, it becomes significantly easier to navigate and overcome complex situations. This approach not only strengthen our legal response, but also ensures that the legal strategy remains aligned with the broader business goals, contributing to the organisation´s overall resilience. This impact extends beyond legal matters to include Compliance and economic considerations as well.

What are the major cases or transactions you have been involved in recently?

Recently, I have been directly involved in several strategic M&A transactions, as well as in the corporate restructuring of our group globally and our portfolio of brands across different regions. These operations have been essential to optimise our portfolio, focus on high-growth markets, and aim to long-term profitability.

In addition, I have played a key role in the negotiation and execution of complex agreements with franchisees, and third parties due the transactions abovementioned.

These transactions reflect our ongoing efforts to strengthen our portfolio, enhance efficiency, and support the organisation’s strategic growth objectives.

How do you prioritise diversity and inclusion within your legal department, and what initiatives have you implemented to foster a more inclusive and equitable work environment?

Diversity within our legal department has developed naturally, we are fortunate to have a team composed of individuals with different ages, genders, and sexual orientations.

Rather than following a strict diversity plan, we’ve focused on creating an open and unbiased hiring culture, where talent and values are the main drivers of recruitment. That’s why this has naturally led to a diverse, equitable and well-balanced team.

To foster a truly inclusive environment, I´ve encouraged initiatives that promote mutual understanding and connection. One of these is holding team conversations where members can voluntarily share experiences or challenges related to their identity. These exchanges help others gain a broader perspective and deepen empathy across the team. It’s a simple yet powerful way to build trust and create a culture where people feel respected, supported, and free to be themselves…
