The in-house legal team at Cinemex, adept at all commercial and corporate areas pertaining to the media and cinema industry including IP, franchising and piracy protection, is led by Olga Maria Osnaya Merlos, manager of the legal area, since 2018.
In 2017 the company opened its first of many locations in the US in Miami and has expanded this reach to other locations in the Southeast and Midwest.
In October 2018, Cinemex, operating in the US under the CMX brand name, acquired Cobb Theatres incorporating its over 300 screens. This acquisition has made CMX one of the top 10 cinema companies, by screen volume, in the US.
