Led by general counsel Lilia Pous, the legal team at VivaAerobus, a Mexican low-cost airline owned by the biggest bus company group in Mexico IAMSA, has supported the company during its rapid but sustainable growth. The legal team recently facilitated VivaAerobus’ historical transaction when the airline signed the largest purchase agreement for Airbus in Latin America. The team was tasked with supervising this agreement, which has resulted in reducing costs and fares, improving reliability, punctuality and travel experiences of the passengers. The team has been central to agreements that have helped develop the company into a known brand with an impressive market share. In order to support this, team members have developed into experts in intellectual property matters, negotiation and business strategy throughout the company. The legal department has enabled the company to solidify and grow their reputation as a low price, but high quality airline that promotes connectivity. As of December 2016, IAMSA became the sole shareholder of VivaAerobus after buying out Irelandia Aviation’s stake, the investment arm of the Ryan family behind Ryanair.
