Led by general counsel Francisco Xavier Borrego Hinojosa Linage, the Grupo Salinas legal team supports a group of Mexican companies spanning a wide range of activities covering TV Azteca, Enlace Totalplay and Grupo Elektra. Most recently, some of the team’s responsibilities have been interrelated activities including Grupo Salinas signing an agreement with Google for the online distribution of TV Azteca content in order to increase reach and awareness through online video services. The team has been able to finalise this agreement, combining a TV network and technology company to create new solutions and innovative user experiences. As a consequence of the legal team adding value to the business, Grupo Salinas continues to grow, boasting an annual income close to $5bn and employing about 70 thousand people across Mexico, the US, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Panama, Peru and Colombia. The legal team has a central role in closing deals and devising company strategies across these countries. Borrego has also trained the team to support the business in anticipating regulatory changes throughout these jurisdictions. With the aim of promoting environmental value, the company have been awarded the best brigades of the “Clean Up Our Mexico 2016” campaign.
