Marta Roberti is Head of Division at the European Investment Fund (EIF), where she leads a team of more than 20 legal professionals supporting EIF’s fund investment activities across Europe. Her division advises on approximately €7 billion of annual commitments into venture capital, private equity, private debt and infrastructure funds, supporting European SMEs and small mid-caps, while enhancing strategic initiatives that advance EU policy objectives and strengthen Europe’s investment ecosystem.
With more than 15 years of professional experience, Marta has developed deep expertise at the intersection of the investment fund industry and the institutional landscape. Her team is in charge of equity transactions throughout their entire lifecycle, from product development and structuring through internal approvals, contractual implementation and portfolio management. This includes legal support for major European investment programmes such as InvestEU and the European Tech Champions Initiative (ETCI).
Marta is recognised by fund managers, investors, market participants and external counsel for her technical and negotiation skills and her ability to reconcile the interests of multiple stakeholders. Her collaborative and solution-driven approach facilitates the achievement of outcomes that are legally robust, commercially effective and aligned with institutional priorities. As a strong advocate of innovation within the legal function, Marta has led several initiatives aimed at enhancing transactional execution and documentation standardisation.
Alongside her transactional and institutional responsibilities, Marta places significant emphasis on people leadership and talent development.
Marta holds a PhD in Business Law, with a focus on investment funds, and an MSc in Law and Finance from the University of Oxford. Her combination of academic depth, extensive transactional experience and long-standing leadership within EIF enables her to bridge legal complexity, commercial realities and the broader strategic objectives of European investment policies.
