Career biography

As general legal manager of Tamdeen Group, one of Kuwait’s leading real-estate development and management companies, I oversee legal affairs and governance, aligning the group’s projects and partnerships with sound legal and regulatory standards.

I lead a talented in-house team responsible for strategic transactions, dispute resolution, government engagement, and the day-to-day legal frameworks for the group’s retail, hospitality, digital, sports, entertainment, and real-estate operations. I view the legal function as a business partner, enabling growth, protecting value, and ensuring compliance.

My work spans some of the Group’s most significant matters: the acquisition of a landmark e-commerce platform in Kuwait, numerous joint ventures and long-term agreements with multinational luxury brands across retail, sports, and hospitality, and the sale of our shareholding in a GCC investment vehicle. I have also directed the resolution of complex contractor claims and high-value disputes, including a multi-million-dinar case in a GCC court that concluded entirely in the group’s favour.

Within property management, I established and refined standard operating agreements that provide a balanced framework for tenants and stakeholders. I also lead the preparation of all government correspondence, ensuring regulatory compliance and timely approvals.

A key focus is strengthening in-house capability. By managing most complex matters internally, we have reduced reliance on external counsel and achieved significant cost efficiencies without sacrificing quality. Where external expertise is essential, I select firms for their commercial acumen and practical solutions.

The legal landscape is evolving at unprecedented speed, driven by new technologies, changing regulations, and rising business expectations. Following the pandemic, we updated our legal frameworks and internal procedures to ensure we are prepared to address similar unforeseen situations quickly and effectively. I keep our function agile by adopting tools and processes that add real value while maintaining the rigorous judgment and clear guidance the business depends on. This adaptability, combined with disciplined risk management and team development, supports our Group’s continued growth.

My major cases include the acquisition of a landmark e-commerce platform in Kuwait, the conclusion of many joint ventures and long-term agreements with multinational leading luxury brands in retail, sports, and hospitality, the sale of our shareholding in an investment vehicle in a GCC country, the resolution of complex contractor claims for development projects through mediation, arbitration, and direct settlements in coordination with technical teams, and the management of high-value disputes before Kuwaiti courts and a significant case before courts in a GCC country with multi-million claims, achieving a judgment fully in our favour.

My approach begins with risk mapping and proactive communication with management. During the pandemic and subsequent market volatility, I implemented rapid response strategies: negotiating urgent adjustments, managing disruptions, and ensuring compliance with evolving regulations. Following the pandemic, we updated our legal frameworks and internal procedures to ensure we are prepared to address similar unforeseen situations quickly and effectively. This balance of practical solutions and forward-looking risk management ensures that legal strategy remains aligned with the Group’s business objectives and resilience planning.

We prioritise handling matters in-house to control costs and maintain close alignment with strategy. Our team has strong expertise in corporate structuring, real estate, franchising, and regulatory compliance, allowing us to manage the majority of legal work internally. When external counsel is engaged, it is for highly specialised expertise or to obtain an independent perspective in high stakes matters. We evaluate external firms on commercial acumen, responsiveness, and practical solutions, in addition to legal accuracy.

The legal team functions as a strategic partner to the business. We create and maintain robust legal frameworks for property management, retail operations, and large-scale development projects. By drafting and improving standard agreements and advising corporate governance and compliance, we provide the foundation for the group’s growth.
