Team size: 35
What are the key projects that you have been involved in over the past twelve months?
Over the past twelve months, I led several initiatives aimed at enhancing the overall effectiveness of the Board of Directors. These included introducing new review processes for Board materials and presentations, redesigning the annual schedule of Board and Committee meetings, and delivering tailored corporate governance training sessions for Board members.
Through these initiatives, we strengthened the quality of Board discussions, improved alignment between management and the Board, and created a more interactive governance framework that better supports strategic decision‑making.
Please describe a situation where your advice had a significant impact on business outcomes or objectives.
In recent years, we have completed several strategic business divestments. Our legal team played a central role throughout the due diligence, negotiation and closing phases, working closely with business leaders and global legal colleagues, as well as coordinating external counsel across multiple jurisdictions.
Despite complex regulatory and structuring challenges, we were able to proactively identify legal risks and deliver pragmatic solutions that supported the transaction objectives. As a result, the transactions were completed smoothly and on schedule.
What are the most important attributes for a modern in‑house counsel to possess?
For a modern in‑house counsel, the most important attribute is the ability to truly understand the business and build trusted relationships with business partners. This requires listening carefully, developing a deep understanding of the company’s products, strategy, and organisation, and positioning legal as a constructive partner rather than a gatekeeper.
In‑house lawyers should also be clear that their role is to provide reasonable and practical solutions that help achieve business objectives, while maintaining transparency and open communication. Regular check‑ins with the business are essential to gather feedback, strengthen collaboration and continuously improve the quality of legal support.
What is a cause, business or otherwise, that you are passionate about?
I am passionate about working with diverse and talented teams to deliver effective legal support. I place great value on learning from different legal systems and cultural perspectives, and I enjoy fostering an environment where team members can openly share ideas and challenge each other.
By leveraging each person’s unique expertise, we are able to solve complex problems collaboratively. This approach not only strengthens our legal outcomes, but also promotes continuous learning, professional growth and a strong, inclusive team culture.
