Career Biography

I serve as ViP of legal department at ZOZO, Inc., where I oversee legal affairs, corporate governance, compliance and other corporate legal matters.

For nearly two decades, I have worked across legal, governance, and corporate strategy functions within the technology and internet industry. While I have spent most of my career in legal roles, I also spent approximately five years in a corporate strategy function, where I was involved in investments, M&A transactions, organisational restructuring, group governance and group management initiatives.

During that period, I worked on domestic and cross-border investment and M&A projects, supported the establishment and management of group companies and participated in governance-related initiatives associated with organisational restructuring, holding company transformation and group integration. Through these experiences, I had the opportunity to work across legal, governance, investment and management functions and developed a broader perspective on corporate decision-making and long-term value creation.

Since joining ZOZO in 2020, I have been responsible for a broad range of corporate legal and governance matters. In recent years, I have been involved in initiatives including the transition to a company with an Audit and Supervisory Committee, the implementation of a virtual-only shareholders meeting, reforms to executive compensation systems and efforts to enhance board effectiveness.

I have also provided legal support for cross-border transactions and international business partnerships. Most recently, these included a transaction involving a UK-based company and strategic partnership projects involving international sporting events.

Having worked across legal, governance, and corporate strategy functions throughout my career, I have developed a strong interest in the intersection of law, business and corporate management. I believe that corporate legal functions can create greater value when they combine legal expertise with a deeper understanding of management, business operations, governance structures and decision-making processes.

Throughout my career, I have focused on supporting practical and balanced decision-making while helping organisations address legal and governance challenges in a rapidly changing business environment.
