The legal team for Wind Tre, the largest mobile operator in the Italian telecommunication market, is dedicated to the company goal of becoming the most innovative digital telecoms company with the largest mobile network in Italy. Although newly formed, the legal function has been successful in handling the extremely complex merger and integration between Wind Tre and H3G, two of Italy’s biggest leading telecommunications companies, which involved approximately 8,000 employees. Some of its key growth indicators include a revenue of €7bn, 34 million customers and €1bn in operative cash flow. Leading the team is Paolo Rizzi, manager and senior legal counsel who has over 14 years of in-house support in the TMT industry, and was appointed as responsible as the Italian legal manager for various intercompany and external shareholder’s agreements and projects as the team leader for the legal support for strategic operations. In December 2016 the team was behind Wind reaching an agreement with Zte Italy, multinational telecommunications equipment and systems company, for the realisation of a future single network which will support the services of the company that will come from the merger of the two operators. The legal aspects and the management of the contractual table with the shareholders were handled by the team with the guidance of Rizzi. The team also assist the compliance officer with several matters, above all compliance contractual clauses, codes of ethics with particular focus on site’s infrastructures, telecommunication networks, IT infrastructures, IT services and digital solutions in the sphere of real estate, marketing, media, advertising, maintenance and outsourcing service agreements.
