A key Italian oil refiner, Saras S.p.A. owns the largest refinery in the Mediterranean, the Sarroch refinery on the southwestern coast of Sardinia. One of six oil-refining supersites in Europe, the refinery acts as Saras’ main production facility. The group also operates the largest liquid fuel gasification plant in the world, converting heavy refining residues into clean gas, a biodiesel production plant in Spain, a retail business located principally in the South of Spain, and is active in the generation of electricity from renewable sources and the provision of industrial engineering services to the oil sector. Saras’ legal function is overseen by head of legal and corporate affairs Simona Berri, a former honorary judge at the Civil Court of Cagliari who has worked with various companies of the Saras group since 1999. The wider legal team received praise for its work, with lawyers Nicoletta Ruta and Sabrina Ricci meriting special mention.
