About

Made up of five lawyers and one paralegal, the Bosch Italia team is led by general counsel Manuela Dimase who joined the company in 2015 but has since made integral changes to the structure of the department. The team of highly skilled lawyers cover areas of M&A, contract litigation, administrative law, environmental, real estate, insolvency, IP law antitrust and compliance. Working towards changing the mentality of the business, the legal team take a flexible approach of internal communication and is described by Dimase as being ‘lawyers and business partners at the same time’. As part of its role in supporting leading technology and services, the team has a great deal of regulatory knowledge in regards to creating strong and meaningful developments on a global scale. With over 20 different locations and over 5,800 employees in Italy, Robert Bosch is one of the most respected industrial companies in the region. Most recently, the department hired two new members and renovated the face of the department, adopting a new attitude to working and job rotation encouraging strong cooperation with European colleagues. Discussing the team structure, Dimase says: ‘I have some specialists but I want generalists, I want people who are able to deal with different areas but maintain strong expertise we go to external counsel’. Within the last year the team has been behind the project for the online sale of maintenance services of boilers for Bosch’s thermotecnique business. This has proved to be a crucial innovation for the company in terms of experiencing b2b business operations and crucial for the team in terms of broadening their legal expertise. ‘We are supporting another department for regulatory law implementation for changes to comply with new European law. We also concluded a very important contract in the administration law field. We managed the contracts high economic value’. One of the challenges of operating in the Italian economic sphere is the budget and ever-changing market, Dimase says that they are increasingly required to act as risk managers too. ‘We have to be a manager on the economic side too. I change the approach trying to maximise as much as possible to try to find a way to be reciprocally advised with a flexible approach.’
