Despite an environment that poses several challenges, key to the internal function of the team is the innovative management of its workload, Manzetti explains the introduction of a ‘new legal intake tool’ that helps manage instructions more efficiently. Undertaking a restructure of the team with specialisation in mind; Manzetti explains how the team members ‘cover different areas of expertise’ which currently extend to dealing with matters relating to the acquisition of a minority shareholding in an insurance mediation business with assistance from a law firm on specific aspects. Even in the face of a landscape subject to ‘huge legislative changes and the implementation of the new code of public contract’ in addition to a bigger workload – Manzetti has also taken the role of head of legal South Europe and MENA, overviewing over 15 countries and an additional 14 lawyers based in different locations – the AIG Italian legal team is a shining example of a group of well-organised and adept legal professionals able to succeed in spite of a chaotic insurance market.
